Week #1 -Newton Shoes

So far these new shoes are excellent.

Treadmill tempo: Only okay. Didn’t notice any big difference here. The lugs on the bottom felt strange, but after 1:15 (40 min lactate threshold) no trouble

Transition run: After riding the IMC course on the computrainer for 5 hours, on my sundeck in 30′ heat mid-day– I slipped on these babies at the peak heat of the day, and ran for 55 minutes and did 11k. The legs felt fresh and springy. No fatigue, no hotspots and, for me, this was fast time considering I was always in base one! I felt I could go another three hours easisly. The shoes are light and fast.

Long run:

After 30 min. on the trainer– I ran for 2:05/23k. Undulating run, average pace 5:23/km (about 10-20 seconds/km faster) Nice run– no leg/foot pain and don’t even notice the lugs on the bottom of the shoe anymore. Sitting here feeling fresh and ready go go mountian biking. Legs are fresh.

My opinion? First running shoe I’ve LOVED. Makes running fun and fast. Two thumbs (er– toes?) up.

I’m still not sure if I will wear the Newtons for IMC in two weeks or if I will wear my tried and true Wave Runners. I’ll wait and see how this week turns out.
