speaking of clothes ….

A miraculous thing happened to me this morning and I had to share.
Back in early 2002 I started running. I was 225 pounds and a size 22 and hadn't worn jeans since college. By fall 2004 I had whipped myself into fantastic shape, down to 145 and size 6 jeans that were loose on me. I then began training for IMLP in July 2005: gained 30 pounds. Back in size 8 jeans which I had kept JIC. A little downtime, and then began training for IMAZ 2006: gained another 30. Stopped wearing jeans because I refused to buy size 10. I then spent a year running marathon after marathon, and lost enough weight to get back into the 8s. One pair tore, so I was left with only 2 pairs. They're on their last legs, pockets threatening to tear off, a few belt loops ripped off. But they're wearable, even if they have been slipping off my hips a bit lately.
Last night I washed the 2 pairs and put them in the dryer. This morning they were still a little damp. As I turned the dryer on I thought, "Hmmm. Those jeans ARE big. I have a pile of size 6s upstairs. I wonder if they fit yet?" So I ran upstairs and yanked a pair on. I was so excited I starting whooping it up. Woke up my poor husband, even.
But finally, after over 2 years, I am pleased to say I once again fit into those size 6s. They're not loose, as they fit just like they should, but they WILL BE loose when I lose that final 10 pounds (or, super secret goal, 20). All my focus the past 4 months on bettering my diet, watching the beer, and sharpening/fine tuning my workout schedule has paid off. I now have 7 pairs of jeans at my disposal!
