I've got two sprints under my belt and I did them both on a hybrid/mtn bike. I'm now going to get a road bike and am confused with all the options. I'm definitely limited somewhat because of my size. I'm only 5 ft tall. So far I know I fit the Trek 47cm 2.1 and the Specialized Dolce Comp 48cm.

The question is, what other bikes are women specific and are comparable. Should I look at a tri bike?

My plans are to continue with sprint distances and eventually do some olympics. I have arthritic knees so I don't think they can handle anything longer than an olympic distance, and hopefully they will coooperate and let me do at least an olympic.

I don't really see myself doing century rides, etc. although, I do have a number of "bikie" friends who may try to recruit me. Most of my rides will be with a triathlon club I'm thinking about joining, or on my own.

Any ideas? I'm looking to stay under $1500, whether it's new or used.
