Half Marathons and Marathons…and tigers, OH MY

So this weekend I ran a half marathon in Santa Barbara. It was great running weather and a really beautiful course. I wanted to go sub 2 hrs, which i realize is slow but I would never have even imagined running 13.1 miles a year ago so I'm not frustrated with where I'm at.
I started out slow, the course starts with an uphill journey into a nice neighborhood, and gradually picked up the pace. First mile marker was at mile 4 and I was doing pretty good, about 36 minutes. I kept a pretty good pace throughout, making sure that I was on pace to beat 2 hrs. About halfway through I realized that this would be easily accomplished, but I didn't speed up.
At mile 10 or so I thought maybe I could go sub 1:50. I really tried the last 2 miles to do so but I knew that running sub 7 minute miles for 2 miles was not gonna happen.

Finished in 1:51:02…dangit.
Oh well, next time I'm going sub 1:30
On a Full Marathon note, my dad just told me that we're doing the san diego rock and roll marathon in June. I just got the confirmation email! I have a long time to prepare for this, I want to be able to run it fast. I think I can.
