Bike Repair Book Recommendation?

I want to be able to fix anything that could possibly go wrong with my bike. I am able to fix anything that could possibly go wrong on my '63 Beetle, so I have the mechanical-mindedness thing. I just need a good book. And the reviews on Amazon are maddening. A guy at the LBS suggested Sloan, but the book looks pretty outdated. Suggestions?
