when your big toe tries to escape from your running shoe

Message posted by: Becky H.

Okay… goofy subject line but I’m in a happy mood from all the wonderful sunshine outside today:-)! Spring is coming….

My hubby just bought himself a new pair of Saucony running shoes and has run in them maybe 6 times. Today he came home with a hole in the left one, above his big toe in the mesh part. Is this common? How do you fix it?? I’m a little perturbed because we dished out good money for a nice pair of shoes that have a hole in them after 2 weeks. I’m thinking duct tape on the inside, and replacing it as needed, but will that hold for a long run?

Is this perhaps an indicator of a foot problem that needs to be corrected? I’ve just never seen or heard of this, how am I going to get a pair of shoes for him that will keep his toe in??
