running help

Okay so I have three weeks until the summer quarter starts and I want to really focus on running. I am doing my first triathlon in September and so far I’m feeling pretty good about my swimming and biking. But I started out only doing eliptical because I wanted to lose some weight before I started running to save my knees and shins some pain. I finally started running last week and I feel like I’m really far behind. The tri I’m doing is a sprint, so it’s only 3 miles, but I can’t even do that yet. I’m just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what I can do over the next few weeks, like sprints or anything like that.
