Ok, here’s the background:

I am “training” for the Goofy Challenge the weekend of January 10th. I’ve been running fairly consistently for the last 4 years and have run 3 marathons previously (2 this year). I completed IMAZ in April. I have been training for El Tour de Tucson (108 mile bike ride) November 22nd and swimming in the Tempe Town Lake 2.4 mile swim this weekend which I have also been training for. My running mileage has not been very high because I have had some lower leg pain issues so have been supplementing with lots of biking and swimming.

The question:

The Tucson Marathon is December 7th. I am considering using this marathon as a training run for Goofy and running 6-7 miles the day before just to get the back to back running thing. Is this too close or too long for me to try or should I just do a 20 miler and call it good. I usually like to get up to about 23-24 before a marathon.

any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!
