running time

any suggestions on my run. I have been running on and off for 3yrs now, and I cannot get my time below 10min/miles. I have been better over the last 2 years about going more often. (that is 2days a week). I just want to see improvement. I have gotten (last couple of runs, 9:45 on my 1st mile, 9:55 on 2nd mile, then 10:20 or so on the last mile.)

One thing a know slows me down, is the fact I drink soda. I have stop has of today. The last 2 months I cut back to one a day. Today, I feel good about not wanting any. This sounds stupid, but I have been hooked on this stuff for 15 years.

any more suggestion on things to improve?
