all you marathon runners!

I am planning to run the Las Vegas Rock n’ Roll Marathon on December 6th 2009, this will be my first full 26.2. I also plan be doing lots of base building for IMCDA this winter, so I don’t think I want to follow a typical Marathon Plan as I still need time to work on my swimming and some biking, but I want to be able to finish comfortably. Does anyone have a plan that they’ve followed that would fit in with those goals? I’ve looked at the Furman Institute of Running and Scientific Training (FIRST) http://www.furman.edu/first/Marathon%20Training%20Program.pdf

It’s a three days a week plan and thought that might fall into what I’m looking for. There’s a fine line between overdoing it and training well enough to finish strong, and I don’t want to cross it!! Any advice would be highly appreciated.
