running times

I use to call myself a runner. I was never fast. Now I am calling myself a triathlete. I am keying up for a half marathon. I am finding that my running times are much slower than a few years back. I know age plays into the formula, but I would not think this much. I am thinking of continuing to build running endurance and maybe do some speed work and hopefully that will improve my times. What other ideas do people have for building more running speed? Thanks
