rr- bromham 10k pudding run

Message posted by: ian d.

Its taken me 18 months of “competition” racing but at last I have cracked an official 10K within the hour… Bromham 10K Pudding Run – 59:54.2. Those 5.8 seconds are all important!

That’s line timed rather than official time – there was quite a crowd at the start and it seemed to take and age to cross the line, but it counts in my book! Bumped into Stu from masters swimming before the race, and a couple of people I knew during it – possibly not surprising since Bromham is the next village over from where i live!

Splits not downloaded yet, but the first 5Km was done in 29 minutes plus so I may not have negative split it, but its good enough. Walked the 5Km water station – as is always my race plan – then an unscheduled walk at 7Km as I needed a pee. By 8Km I was likely on for a PB (previous PB 1:01:52) but cracking the hour was going to be hard – but knocked the last 2 kms off in sub 6 minute time each to push myself to the line just in time.

Totally chuffed especially seeing I’ve not run much in the last couple of months at all (concentrating on swim and bike).

celebrated with probably a tad too much beer then knocked off a bit of a squiffy 1500m continuous swim before re-carbing with a pizza with the family!

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!
