Just finished White Rock Marathon in Dallas last Sunday. I had a plan of it being a long training run for Houston Jan 17 so stuck to my 10 min mi plan, conversational and felt great until mile 20 and ouch – hit the wall. I was headed for a 4:20 and did not come in until 4:40. I was so tired that i imagined the last mile a lake and wished i could just swim in – pretty ironic considering how much i always dred the swim of a long tri. Anyway, I took 3 full days off, ran/walked thursday and finally ran 8 pretty nicely yesterday however tried 5 today and legs hurting again. If I want to prepare myself comfortably for HOuston do i really anymore long runs or can i get away w/ shorter runs, some long bikes and spinning and long swims.

watch countdown to zero film

By the way I passed a woman in her mid 40′s who was running her 37th marathon of 2009 – how do people do that?????
