weird run

Message posted by: Kirk W.

My tri club is doing a run this weekend that has me pause and think whether or not I should attempt it or not.

We’re all meeting on a paved asphalt trail, and here’s the fun part.

We’re trying to add something challenging and different to our group run. This week will be a 21 mile run/walk.

The plan is to run one mile, then walk 1/2 mile and repeat until we’ve covered the 21 mile stretch of the trail.

Now I’ve never ran a full marathon before but done a couple of halfs.

I am training for a full right now but I’m only up to about 11 miles for my long run.

My question is this. Should I be able to complete this type of run without injury since it has so much walking involved or should I skip it and stay on my regular training schedule?

I really would like to do this run, it sounds like a lot of fun, but not if there’s a high risk of injury for me.

Thanks in advance for your advice.
