running marathon tomorrow with my brother

My brother Jim was born July 16,1941. You do the math but on his next birthday he’ll be his favorite number. Jim spent the majority of his life weighing around 340 lbs. He liked to smoke, alot, and liked Johnny Barley-Corn equally. He figured out Johnny was no friend. They parted company more than 15 years ago. Years of bad habits caught up with brother Jim and he passed away last Sunday.
We buried him yesterday.
I have no regrets. Jim and I spent a bunch of time together in the last 6 months as the medicals tried their best to undue 50 years of neglect. We talked, joked, laughed and cried but in the end it was all good.
Jim was always excited about our races. He’d always ask how my wife did first, because she usually places, before asking about my results. He’d ask about the distances and make some reference about he could do that in his Caddy way faster. So tomorrow Brother Jim will be going 26.2 miles for the first time. Wish him luck!
