how can i improve pace for half-marathon?

I’m training for a half marathon and would like any tips to increase my speed that you’d have to offer. I’m currently using a set of stairs (250 steps) for a cross training cardio workout once a week. I’m also doing a little weight training 2x a week. Would adding fartleks or other interval training be too much? Please keep in mind that my running had come to a bare minimum the last two years and I’m basically starting all over. Any help you’d like to give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
